What we learnt about Excel

Here are some Excel formula we used in IT today:

• Find average =AVERAGE(C2:C9)
• Find total =SUM(G2:G12,G16)
• Highest or lowest value =MAX(B3:B8)
• Check if a condition is met =IF(test,if true, if false)
• =SUMIF(range,criteria,sumrange)

These are a few of the many many excel formulas. Spreadsheets can save you hours of work.

Magdeburg Water Bridge

I believe that the bridge would not take any more weight when a ship or a boat goes over it. The weight of the boat is evenly distributed along the river. The boat simply displaces it. All the bridge would have to do is hold the weight of the water flowing across.
